The Core Strategy sets out the vision and strategy for growth and development in Erewash up to 2028 and includes strategic policies for housing, business, retail, transport and heritage. The Erewash Core Strategy has been prepared in broad alignment with the Aligned Core Strategies of Broxtowe Borough, Gedling Borough and Nottingham City Councils.
The first public stage in preparing this document was the Issues and Options consultation, which took place in the summer of 2009. This was followed by the Option for Consultation in spring 2010 and later consultation in the summer of 2011 on a Housing Provision Position Paper and proposed revisions to Policy 1: Climate Change. Responses to these earlier consultations have helped to shape the Erewash Core Strategy (Submission Version), which sets out how the Council thinks Erewash should develop over the period to 2028.
The Borough Council formally submitted its Core Strategy to the Secretary of State on 30 November 2012. An independent inspector has been appointed to carry out a public examination and report on the Erewash Core Strategy; for more information please click on the Core Strategy Examination link on the left hand side of this webpage.
