Further Hearing Session
Correspondence has taken place between the Inspector and the Council following the closing date for representations on the proposed main modifications to the Core Strategy. The main part of the correspondence related to the supply of housing land in the Borough in the context of the requirements of the National Planning Policy Framework. It arose from some of the representations made on the proposed main modifications – particularly MM5.
The further information provided by the Council provides more detail on individual sites, including those that in the Council's view would comprise the 20% buffer. However, the Inspector is mindful that other parties have not had the opportunity to comment on this. He has decided that the examination would be best served by testing the evidence at a hearing and that this would also be fair to all interested parties.
The inspector proposed to hold a further focused hearing session. This only covered the new information on the housing land supply in the Borough. No other aspects of the Core Strategy or the proposed main modifications were discussed.
The hearing took place on Wednesday 27th November 2013, commencing at 10:00am. It was held in the Committee Room at the Town Hall, Long Eaton.
Schedule of Modifications
The Borough Council are currently consulting on a Schedule of Main Modifications. These are a series of amendments to the Erewash Core Strategy made by the Planning Inspector as part of the examination process. To view the various consultation documents and to find out further details about this stage visit the Schedule of modifications webpage. Please note that the closing date for comments is Monday 29th July 2013.
The Erewash Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State on 30 November 2012. Further details are set out in the Statement of the Fact, which we are required to submit. This can be accessed by clicking on the link below.
The Secretary of State has appointed Mr M Moore BA (Hons) MRTPI CMILT MCIHT as Inspector for the Erewash Core Strategy examination. His role is to test both the legal compliance and soundness of the Core Strategy. To be sound, it should be justified, effective, positively prepared and consistent with national policy.
The examination process was administered by the Programme Officer, Carmel Edwards. Ms Edwards is independent from the Council and worked directly to the inspector. Now that the hearings have concluded and the Inspector is preparing his report Ms Edwards is no longer working on this examination. Any queries should be addressed to Adam Reddish in the Planning Policy team.
