The Town and Country Planning (Brownfield Land Register) Regulations 2017 and the Town and Country Planning (Permission in Principle) Order 2017 requires local authorities to create and maintain a Brownfield Land Register. Erewash’s Brownfield Land Register will identify brownfield sites in the borough that are suitable for residential development. Key information regarding the brownfield site’s characteristics will be presented.
The register will consist of two parts: Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 will present all identified brownfield sites in Erewash that are suitable for residential development, but does not contain information regarding the sites planning status. In comparison, Part 2, a subgroup of Part 1, will contain sites identified as being suitable for ‘Permission in Principle’ status. Permission in Principle will provide potential developers with greater certainty regarding the characteristics of a site, including its location and development potential. Following Permission in Principle, the developer must also then secure Technical Details consent.
The Brownfield Land Register will be monitored and kept up-to-date by regularly reviewing the brownfield sites listed on the register. Erewash’s Brownfield Land Register will be available to view on this webpage in late 2017.
