In accordance with the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, every council in England and Wales must undertake and complete a review of all of the polling districts and polling places in its area within a 16 month period.

In reviewing its polling districts and polling places, the council will ensure that:

  • Electors have reasonable, practicable facilities for voting in the circumstances; and  

  • As far as is reasonable and practicable, that polling places are accessible to all electors, and when designating a polling place, have regard to the accessibility needs of all people. 

Unsure of what certain words mean?

Ward - a specific area of a borough, defined for electoral, administrative and representational purposes.

Polling district - the geographical area created by sub - dividing a constituency / ward.

Polling place - a designated area, usually within a polling district, in which polling stations are located.

Boundary Review Information

The Erewash (Electoral Changes) Order 2015 No. 77 outlining new electoral arrangements for Erewash Borough Council has now been published

The independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England recommended that Erewash should now be represented by 47 councillors, four fewer than before. The recommendations also propose that those councillors should represent ten two-member wards and nine three-member ward across the borough.
