Enjoy classic wartime songs and all things 1940s when Erewash Museum in Ilkeston presents one of the most popular events in the council calendar.
A 1940s Garden Party will be held at the museum on Saturday 23 June, with the Festival Swing Dance Society leading the nostalgic entertainment, followed by classic wartime songs performed by entertainer Johnny Victory in the museum gardens.
There will be a chance to view vehicles from the era and military displays while visitors will be able to sample some wartime refreshments at the museum’s Old Stables Tea Room.
Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:
“The 1940s Garden Party is sure to be a great success - this themed event always proves popular and it is great to see so many Erewash residents of all ages enjoying the style and times of that era. The music and vehicles really transform the museum and take you right back to the 40s!”
The Garden Party runs from 10.30am-3.30pm and admission is free. A remembrance ceremony in the museum gardens will close the event at 3.30pm.
