Ilkeston artist Tim Bennett will be presenting his exhibition ‘No More Heroes’ at Erewash Museum from Thursday 28 February – Tuesday 23 April.
Erewash has been home to many heroic people in the past and this exhibition looks to bring some of these heroes back to life, remembering some of the long forgotten souls who fought in the wars to protect our country, and to who we owe our freedom today.
Amongst the artwork will be Tim’s interpretation of the Cossall Giants, John Shaw and Richard Waplington, and a sculpture of Ilkeston-born Lieutenant Colonel Brian Shaw. Local heroes Thomas Wheatley and Frank Woolley will also be represented.
Tim studied art and design at South East Derbyshire College and then went on to complete a degree in illustration at the University of Derby.
Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Leisure and Culture, Councillor Mike Wallis, says:
“This will be a fascinating exhibition remembering the servicemen and women from the Erewash area. These heroes fought so bravely and showed immense courage so to honour them in such a way is a fitting tribute.”
