We are seeking to appoint one member to the Independent Remuneration Panel to review the Members’ Allowances Scheme at Erewash Borough Council.

This Independent Panel generally meets annually, or when required, and will also undertake a major review of the scheme within its four year tenure.

The panel will be supported by council officers during reviews to gather evidence and submit its recommendations to Full Council. The new panel member will have a term of office ending on 5 November 2021 and will be paid an allowance of £500 per annum plus reasonable travel and subsistence costs.

This is an opportunity for a conscientious person to influence the way in which elected members are reimbursed for their public service. Political impartiality is essential for this role and a knowledge or experience of finance or local government would also be helpful.
