Walking routes
Derbyshire County Council have a number of Walks and Trails available on its website which offer a wide variety of options to explore some of the best scenery and outdoor spaces in the country.
Nutbrook Trail a 10 mile, traffic free path stretching from Long Eaton to Heanor.
Erewash Canal 11.5miles of paths suitable for walking and cycling. You can even stop off at Trent Lock or Bennerley Viaduct.
The Erewash Valley Trail is a circular walking and cycling route which takes in over 30 miles of waterway and countryside on the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire border. View the map.

As well as exploring green spaces in the local area, Bluetonic have a number of Blue Walks which explore walking routes close to rivers, canals and ponds around Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Story Walk
The Story Walk at West Park comprises of seven pedestals that will be a permanent fixture around the park, telling the story of the adventures of Jake, Amber and their dog, Bob. Make your way around the park to find the pedestals and read the next part of the story, or scan the QR codes to have the story read to you.

Monday
Long Eaton Town Walk
A friendly welcoming group who enjoys a chat together as they take a gentle walk along a variety of local mainly circular routes for around an hour.
Walks tend to be at a gentle easy going pace on flat terrain.
Every Monday from 10 am until 11 am (apart from Bank Holidays).
Start point - Long Eaton Town Hall, Derby Road, Long Eaton, NG10 1HU.
Monday Strollers
Informal walks around the Ilkeston area.
Walks tend to be at a moderate pace with some climbs and mixed terrain.
Every Monday from 10.30 am until 12 noon.
Start point – Victoria Park Leisure Centre, Manner Road, Ilkeston, DE7 8AT.
Tuesday
Stanley Walking Group
Friendly and social group, which runs most weeks depending on the weather, with cake and coffee afterwards at local cafe.
Walks tend to be at a gentle easy going pace on flat terrain.
Every Tuesday from 10.30 am for about 40 minutes.

Thursday
Sofa2Stroll+
Accessible walks in nature aimed at helping those with chronic health conditions get out for a stroll.
Walks are at a gentle easy going pace on flat terrain.
Every third Thursday of the month from 10.30 am until 11.30 am and 12.30 pm for strollers that want to do more walking.
Start point – Main car park at Elvaston Castle Country Park, Borrowash Road, Elvaston, Derby, DE72 3EP
Ilkeston Town Walkers
A walking group for all abilities. The group can adjust to fit all newcomers and abilities.
Walks tend to be at a moderate pace with some climbs and mixed terrain.
Every first Thursday of the month from 10 am until 12.30 pm.
Start point – Outside Ilkeston Library, Market Street, Ilkeston DE7 5RN
Friday
Sandiacre Strollers
A friendly adult walking group.
Walks tend to be at a gentle easy going pace on flat terrain.
Every Friday from 10.15 am with various finish times.
Start point – Sandiacre Library, Doncaster Avenue, Sandiacre, NG10 5FJ
Saturday
Accessible Walk & Talk
A gentle walk around West Park, Long Eaton. Suitable for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility.
Walks are at a gentle easy going pace on flat terrain.
Every third Saturday of each month from 2.00 pm until 4 pm.
Start point – Outside West Park Leisure Centre, Wilsthorpe Road, Long Eaton, NG10 4AA
Sunday
Walks 4 Wellbeing
A friendly mixed walking group for men and women who like a gentle ramble.
Walks tend to be at a gentle easy going pace on flat terrain.
Please note that a men’s walk takes place on the second Sunday in the month.
Every first and third Sunday in the month from 10 am until 12 noon with a Men’s walking group on the second Sunday in the month.

Without our volunteers we wouldn’t be able to run our walks. Volunteering is a great way to engage with the community, helping to keep people active and healthy, whilst enjoying the outdoors.
As a volunteer you will be working with like-minded people to help plan and lead walking routes. You will receive specialist training and constant support from the Walk Derbyshire programme.
