Delivering Sustainability through Procurement:
Erewash Borough Council are working to become a sustainable and net-zero council.
As part of this we will be updating our procurement strategy.
What is Sustainability?
The three pillars of sustainability are Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG). Combined these core principles help to create a culture of sustainability.
We will be:
- Embedding the three pillars of sustainability into all council procurement
- Reviewing the embedded carbon in our supply chain
- Providing the best value for the public.
Environmental + Social + Governance (including Financial) = The Integrated ESG Value
Each product or service we secure for the council will have embedded carbon in the supply chain. The carbon emissions associated with each of phase of the supply chain (opposite) contribute to the council’s scope three greenhouse gas emissions.
Our plan is to:
- Review our supply chain
- Secure the best value products & services
- Monitor supplier, commitments
- Share our progress
In addition to reducing our carbon footprint we will seek to:
- Use environmentally friendly products & services
- Support Local Businesses
- Embrace social and technological innovation
- Ensure accessibility and support for all.
