The Supported Housing Improvement Programme funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government
This programme is designed to ensure that any accommodation, established or new to the area, is fit for purpose, providing good quality housing and support to enable residents to move on into general needs accommodation.
The Authority is Undertaking:
- Inspections of accommodation standards, and enforcement activity
- Comprehensive reviews of the support provided to residents
- Evidence based scrutiny of Housing Benefit claims
- Working with Registered Providers (housing associations) as preferred providers of supported accommodation, where need is identified
- Working with providers of supported accommodation to ensure access to suitable and appropriate accommodation and that residents have a “local connection” to the borough
- Strategic planning, based on need and supply assessments.
