How we can work closer

Many residents support the council by bringing concerns in their area to our attention.

We are keen to work with our residents to resolve those concerns and this can be by phone call or through a home visit.

I have some CCTV footage I want to send to you

We can accept footage and prefer to have this sent by email, depending on file size.

Contact the team using the below details and we will discuss the best option.

How the role differs from the Police

Councils and the police have split roles in day-to-day matters. We may receive information that is more suited to the Police and, where possible, this information will be shared with them.

If we feel the matter you are reporting to us should be managed by a different partner then we will advise you accordingly.

Stray dogs

Any dog that is unattended in a public or private place (where it is not permitted to be) is classed as a stray.

All dogs over eight weeks old must be microchipped by the keeper of that dog and registered on an authorised UK database. If you sell your dog or move, you must ensure the details on the database remain up to date. Failure to comply may result in a fine. Even if your dog is microchipped, it still needs to wear a collar and tag.

We deal with stray dogs. However we may not always be able to attend to you until the next working day. Please be assured we aim to deal with all stray dogs the same day.

Dangerous dogs

Dangerous dogs are dealt with by the police. All reports of incidents involving dangerous dogs should be reported to the police immediately by calling 101.

Unwanted dogs

We do not deal with unwanted dogs. These should be rehomed through rescue kennels.
