Forms can also be obtained from the council’s Elections Office. See Electoral Register
The vast majority of eligible residents are already on the register. Poll cards are currently being sent out – meaning many will already have received them.
They tell you where your local polling station is. Ballots can be cast from 7am to 10pm – and you must now remember to take photo ID such as a passport, driving licence or blue badge. Other forms of ID to use are listed here: Accepted forms of photo ID | Electoral Commission

The application form must be received by 5pm on Monday 14 April. All Postal Ballot papers need to be received by the Deputy Returning Officer by 10pm on the day of poll (1 May 2025).
You can drop off your own postal vote and those of five other electors on polling day at Ilkeston Town Hall or Long Eaton Town Hall – or at a polling station in the Erewash area. Make sure you do so before 10pm on election day.
When you hand your postal vote in you will be required to complete a postal vote return form. Please be aware you cannot be given another ballot paper at the polling station.
If you made a mistake on your postal ballot you need to return spoilt papers to the Elections Office by 5pm on 1 May. We will issue you with new papers.
To vote by proxy, you must have a reason – such as going away on holiday or for business. More information is here: Apply to vote by proxy | Electoral Commission
You can apply for an emergency proxy up until 5pm on polling day.
The election count will be held on Friday 2 May at Ilkeston’s Rutland Tennis Centre in West End Drive. Results will be posted on the council’s website.
