Erewash’s mayor is hosting a barn dance.
The event is on Saturday 12 October. Top local country and western performer Paul “Roy Orbison” Hopkins will be on guitar.
Tickets are £15 and include food and a welcome drink. Revellers are encouraged to don fancy dress – with a prize for best outfit. Mayor Cllr Kate Fennelly said:
“It will be a fun-packed evening of country music, line dancing, games, raffles, a photo booth and much more on the night.”
The knees-up at Ilkeston Town FC is being staged to raise money for the Mayor’s Charity – the Forces Veterans Afloat Charitable Trust. It provides narrowboats for ex-service personnel to live on.
Deputy council leader Cllr Becca Everett, who is Lead Member for Community Engagement, said:
“The idea for the charity came about three years ago. Within a week someone had donated the first narrowboat. There is now a fleet of seven – all restored by volunteers.
“Most of those given accommodation on board have been referred by veterans’ groups. The council is proud to support such a worthy cause – and the barn dance is an opportunity for residents to do the same while having a great time.”
The Mayor’s Charity Barn Dance & Country Evening starts at 7pm at the New Manor Ground on Awsworth Road. For tickets call our civic office on 0115 907 1115 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
