Manufacturing Research & Development Grants

Erewash manufacturing businesses are encouraged to apply for the Council’s R&D Grant scheme. Applications for the 4th and final round of the R&D Grant scheme open on Monday 28th October and close on Friday 20th December 2024. The Grants are designed to support local small and medium enterprises* in developing and piloting new products or services to help improve their businesses.

Erewash based SME in the manufacturing sector can apply for grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 and are required to provide 33% of match-funding for the projects. This Grant funding is a great opportunity to invest in cutting-edge research and the development of highly skilled people needed to support UK manufacturing innovation and boost sustainable growth in Erewash.

Invest to Grow: Funding for East Midlands Businesses

To date Invest to Grow has supported over 300 SMEs, awarded funding of over £30m and helped create and safeguard over 2,500 jobs across the East Midlands.

Invest to Grow supports projects focusing on capital expenditure predominantly through a loan scheme but does have some capacity for grant funding.  Project expenditure must be no less than £50k (excluding VAT) and the investment must lead to the creation of new jobs or, in certain circumstances, job safeguarding. Businesses will be expected to match fund a minimum of 70%-80% of the project expenditure.

Other Business Support

Support for new and existing businesses in Erewash is also provided by Erewash Partnership Ltd. Existing businesses and start-ups could additionally benefit from financial assistance and mentoring offered by the D2N2 Growth Hub.
