Housing Options

The Housing Options Team offer support offer advice and assistance to anyone who is homeless or threatened with homelessness within 56 days.

The Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 came into force on 3 April 2018. The Act puts a legal duty on councils to offer more support to a wider range of people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness - and to intervene earlier.

How to contact us

If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness and have a new enquiry you can self refer in to the service by filling out the Housing Assistance Referral Form on gov.uk

Rough Sleeping

If you are rough sleeping or you are a member of the public who is concerned about a rough sleeper you can refer them into the P3 Derbyshire Outreach Team or ring on 0808 1968 199. Referrals can also be made through StreetLink. In addition to helping support people move on from the streets the outreach team can assist the Council to provide accommodation during Severe and Cold Weather.

The Duty to Refer

The duty to refer requires public authorities in England to notify a local housing authority, such as Erewash Borough Council, of service users they think may be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless within 56 days.

If you are under a duty to refer or are an organisation working to provide support to someone who is at risk of homelessness within 56 days please complete the duty to refer form on hpa2.org so that we can provide the appropriate support to the household. Please ensure that you have the client’s permission before making a referral.
