Preventing Homelessness
Steps for tenants and landlords to take to minimise avoidable homelessness
Step One
Talk to your landlord or letting agent about your financial position and see if they will accept a reduced rent.
Note: The Government have extended the time for evictions and may provide further protections after June. Rent still needs to be paid and arrears made up but your landlord may be able to help.
Landlords that want support and have questions can approach Call B4 You Serve hosted by Derby City Council to support landlords with queries. Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 01332 640962.
Revised note: Government had previously extended protection from eviction where a landlord wanted to give notice to end a tenancy. There is guidance available for landlords and tenants in the private and social rented sectors to explain the possession action process in the county courts in England and Wales.
Step Two
If you are concerned about your financial position and think that this could put your tenancy at risk then please seek advice from the following organisations.
