Gold Card

Gold Card is a travel, discount and library card for older people approaching state pension age and people with certain disabilities.

Residents of Erewash who qualify by age or disability can apply for a Gold Card, which is valid for free travel on buses between 9.30am and 11pm on weekdays and all day at weekends.

Gold Card holders are also entitled to free local bus travel in the rest of England, under the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme. The same time restrictions apply. Train travel is not included in this scheme.

Holders of Gold Cards are also offered discounts at hundreds of businesses around Derbyshire.

Community Transport

Subsidised Transport is available for Community Groups Based in Erewash. Since 1996 Erewash Community Transport and Erewash Borough Council have operated a subsidised travel scheme which affords local community groups the opportunity to receive a subsidy (discount), off their monthly transport costs.

The grant is distributed between eligible user groups; each receiving 25% discount offset against total monthly invoice cost. If you can answer yes to the questions below, you could be eligible to receive this discount off monthly transport costs:

  • Are you a member of a local community group based in the Erewash Borough?
  • Is your group totally self reliant?
  • Does your group hold regular meetings?
  • Would you like low cost, accessible transport for your group meetings or for social outings?
