Little Eaton Parish – Neighbourhood Area Designation
A meeting of Erewash Borough Council’s Planning Committee on Wednesday 5th July 2017 approved Little Eaton Parish Council’s application to designate a Neighbourhood Area covering the entirety of the Parish. The Borough Council’s designation of a Neighbourhood Area is a required first stage of the process which regulates Neighbourhood Plan formulation.

Additionally to this, the Borough Council must also a) indicate the name of the Neighbourhood Area, b) a map identifying the area, and c) state the name of the body who applied for the designation. This information can be found below:

Little Eaton Parish – Neighbourhood Area Application
The Borough Council has received an application from Little Eaton Parish Council under powers created by the Localism Act (2011) (amending the Town and Country Planning Act (1990)) to designate a Neighbourhood Area covering the Parish area of Little Eaton. This is with a longer term intention of producing a Neighbourhood Plan for the area.
In line with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (and 2015 Amendments), the submitting body are required as part of their Area Application to provide to Erewash Borough Council (‘the local planning authority) the following information:
• A map which identifies the area to which the application relates;
• A statement explaining why this area is considered appropriate to be designated as a neighbourhood area; and
• A statement that the organisation or body making the area application is a relevant body for the purposes of section 61G of the 1990 Act referred to above.
The application received by the Borough Council includes all required information. The next step is for the Council as required by Regulation 6 of the 2012 Regulations to publicise the following on its website, and in such other manner as they consider is likely to bring the area application to the attention of people who live, work or carry on business in the area to which the application relates:
• A copy of the area application
• Details of how to make representations; and
• The date by which those representations must be received, being not less than 4 weeks from the date on which the area application is first publicised.
The application from Little Eaton Parish Council can be found here: Application from Little Eaton Parish Council.
A map of the proposed Neighbourhood Area can be found here: Map of proposed Neighbourhood Area.
Consultation ran from Thursday 11 May to Thursday 8 June 2017.
To ensure details are publicised within the proposed Neighbourhood Area, copies of the application form and representation forms will also be available to inspect at locations within Little Eaton, as well as Town Halls at Ilkeston and Long Eaton. The locations within Little Eaton will be confirmed in due course.
