Erewash Museum is reminiscing in days gone by with a one-day ‘Fairgrounds of the Past’ exhibition on Saturday 20 October.

Fairground enthusiasts and visitors to the museum will have the opportunity to see and hear an original street organ and showmen’s engine in the museum grounds. The Fairground Association of Great Britain will be displaying their fairground models in the Hayloft.

Enter into the spirit of the 766th Ilkeston Charter Fair by joining in with a taste of how fairs used to be operated in the past - the free event is on between 11am - 4pm. The Old Stable Tearoom will also be open serving food and drinks.

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, said:

“This event encourages us to discover more about the history of fairgrounds. It’s always popular with families and enthusiasts and you gain a real sense of the past, so get down there and take a step back in time.”
