High Speed Two
Between November 2016 and March 2017 route refinement public consultation was carried out following the Government’s announcement of its preferred route for the High Speed Two (HS2) railway from Crewe to Manchester and West Midlands to Leeds, known as Phase 2b. It was seeking feedback on proposals for seven remaining areas of the route where substantial changes had been made since consultation was carried out in 2013.
The consultation included seeking feedback on the East Midlands Hub Approach (Long Eaton) and following consideration of the findings the route through Long Eaton will be on a high level viaduct to address local concerns over the creation of a physical barrier, impacts on the road network and to reduce flood risk.
Further information on the considerations that led to the decisions for the seven areas, including how alternatives were considered is available on the Gov.uk website.
Phase 2b property schemes
The Government has confirmed that the property schemes already available for other phases of the project will also now be in place for those living along Phase 2b route. There are a number of schemes that are available for people whose property may be affected by the project.
